did you know...

that People of Color receive worse health care than White-Americans for about 40 percent of measures?

how it works

One example of how the Partnership hopes to work is in the diabetes space.  Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S. A 2015 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) estimated that 23.1 million in the US have been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and another 7.2 million diabetics have not been diagnosed.  1.5 million are newly diagnosed each year.  There are 86 million (1 in 3 adult Americans) more "pre-diabetes" patients who are at risk of developing diabetes. The BWHI, with funding from the CDC, has developed a pathbreaking program for diabetes prevention among women of color who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.  The Tech2Equity Partnership is exploring ways this highly successful program can be leveraged and expanded through the use of social media platforms and seeks partners in Silicon Valley to enable this project to come to fruition.
